Unlike most of the Herald
Tribune big shots, editorial writer Raymond Price never failed to greet me by
name, even though I was but a lowly copyboy pulling down $100 a week (gross). He
seemed a bit shy to me, but his editorials were bold and brave. Years later, I
learned that Ray, as he had been called at the paper, had penned many of President Nixon's speeches, including his historic resignation address.
